The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
