A plane carrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was discovered in the plane's windshield, per an official announcement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet touched down in accordance with standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, among them Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a press officer commented in a social media post.
The secretary was coming back from a quick journey to the city of Brussels when the incident occurred.
This occurrence does not mark the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet ferrying a high-ranking official has experienced technical problems.
In a previous incident this year, a American military jet transporting Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was compelled to head back to Washington DC after suffering a mechanical fault.
