This sun-drenched cooking retreat, located at a riverside villa in the inland Portuguese region, is draws inspiration from the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Attendees will master the art of meze spreads, take part in a falafel-making workshop, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are visits to the village market and a nearby winery to sample Portuguese wines, combined with leisure time for walks by the Funcho River, to unwind on the terrace or swim in the pool. This energetic camp is an energizing, welcoming weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The format throughout the camp is a high-energy warm-up session, followed by several 90-minute classes teaching various street dance styles, then an 60-minute freestyle session to demonstrate those solos. Participants are split into levels according to ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are completely new to street dance, all the way to advanced dancers or teachers. This event doesn’t include lodging but there are several places to stay nearby, and it is under an hour by train into London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in Cornwall

St Ives is the excellent setting for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will learn traditional shanties from a experienced musician, and try their hand at writing their own. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, performance tips and a closing performance. The holiday is held in a country house with views of St Ives Bay. All meals are provided, such as a traditional tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not included. Creative Writing in Crete

Author and lecturer an experienced instructor leads the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores topics including plot, characters, setting and tension, to submitting work to publishers. Greg’s wife, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will co-host events at the beginning and end of the retreat. The retreat is held at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the Lefka Ori – 10 private accommodations surround a central garden with a pool (companions are encouraged to share).
