Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in tournament winnings.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
