Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
In the wake of the killings, public personalities expressed divergent reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors last week. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate should have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
