Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans offered sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
